Grae and I have names we are leaning toward, but in the event we come to our senses and decide our primary choice for names completely blow, we'd like to have some back up names. While we have names chosen based on family ties, we also have names we just like. We've got nine months to be set in stone certain on a name, but it's fun to get a head start and entertain ourselves for the next eight months with hypotheticals.
Feel free to add your two cents or names to the list. Later this month, both Grae and I will post our "no way we're ever naming a human being this" lists!

I'd expect a decemberist name... preferably NOT leslie anne, since that would just be morbid. eli? clementine? valencia?
I've always been a fan of off-gender names. think george from dead like me. my cousin named her daughter frankie. I went to school with a guy named shannon. miyuki deals with a woman named pete at work. those names are so unusual...
the current trend of giving kids last names is lame. I have nephews named taylor and tucker. there are about a bajillion mackenzies out there. what's most annoying is these names tend to be unisex...
don't pick a normal name and spell it differently so the kid will have a unique name. people that do that just seem retarded.
unusual names lead to getting teased as a kid which builds character and makes for a better personality as an adult.
any time you can reference an unusual or obscure (but still awesome) fictional character, you should. this also applies to biblical names (most of them are fictional anyway), which is a great source for old school names.
whatever you do, when you do choose a name, don't tell anyone. if it's something you really want, don't give anyone a chance to change your mind or make you second guess yourself. no one will do that AFTER the name is on the birth certificate. if you spill it before hand, someone will find a reason to dislike pretty much anything you could possibly think of.
familial namesakes are usually good, especially if it's someone who recently died. some people are superstitious about naming babies after the living..
pick something that sounds awesome prefixed with "teh"...
I'm a fan of Eli, myself, though its a little grim, given the song;
Congrats y'all!
And here are some suggestions.
